Abbey 3 Ledge Rustic Bead and Butt Internal Cottage Doors
Abbey 3 Ledge Rustic Bead and Butt Internal Cottage Door
The Abbey 3 Ledge Rustic Bead and Butt Internal Cottage Door is the perfect choice for those who appreciate timeless craftsmanship and authentic rustic charm. Handcrafted from high-quality solid oak, this door embodies the warmth, texture, and traditional character of true cottage style. With its distinctive Bead and Butt profile and 3-ledge design, it effortlessly enhances both period and modern homes seeking a touch of countryside elegance.
Each Abbey door is handmade by skilled British joiners who take pride in creating doors that combine heritage craftsmanship with modern-day durability. Using carefully selected rustic-grade oak, every door is built to last while showcasing the natural imperfections â knots, splits, and shakes â that make each piece one of a kind. The Bead and Butt detailing adds depth and visual texture, giving your interior a truly authentic cottage finish.
These oak internal doors are manufactured to a standard 40mm thickness, made up of 20mm thick vertical oak boards and 20mm horizontal ledges for structural integrity and strength. The standard height is 1981mm with a choice of four standard widths from 610mm to 838mm. If you require a non-standard size, we can produce bespoke made-to-measure options to perfectly suit your space.
Though the door does come in a finish, we would recommend treating your solid oak doors every 6 months for them to truly remain protected and fresh. We personally recommend our range of Treatex Hardwax oils for this, or alternatively, our Osmo oils.Â
Each door is crafted from kiln-dried rustic oak with a low moisture content of 6â10% to ensure excellent stability once installed. The Bead and Butt joints between boards enhance the traditional aesthetic and give the door added depth and charm. Small nail holes and natural imperfections are intentionally visible to celebrate the raw, handmade quality of the timber â though these can be filled if you prefer a smoother look.
Our range of external doors are made from solid oak; however, we do not recommend usage in exposed areas i.e. direct rain or hot sun. Therefore, we recommend use in sheltered areas with a porch or canopy.
Please follow these treatment and maintenance instructions to preserve the beauty and strength of the wood.
External Doors are supplied unfinished. You will need to use a treatment suitable for external doors; we recommend the Impranol range for External doors.
We also supply an Oak Weatherbar to match the door, which will be required should the door be "open to the elements". Sold separately as not everyone will need one...ie if your door is situated within an enclosed porch. Click Here For Oak Weatherbars.
Our external doors must be treated before being hung, retreated every six months, and kept dry at all times through the use of a canopy or similar. For full guidelines, please visit our External Door Protection Page.
