The product is immediately noticeable and demands attention; its powerful and distinctive features ensure it really stands out. The deep lying knots and shakes only enhance the character of the door. Shakes occur in the growing tree and show as cracks in the wood, often between the growth rings, and they perfectly showcase the natural beauty within the oak. The knots and shakes may be filled or deliberately left open to be filled in during the final finish using wax for a truly authentic look.
Crafted from PEFC Certified Character grade oak, the doors feature all the antique features you’d normally associate with the style. It’s handmade with large random-width vertical planks, 3 large horizontal ledges, tongue and groove construction, and a V-Groove profile to prevent warping of the door over time.
All of our solid oak internal doors are supplied untreated so that you can choose your favourite Oil or Wax Finish. However, the Antique Reproduction doors are supplied 'Aged' but unfinished, which again adds to the overall look and feel of the design. For the best result, we advise staining in a dark oil to bring out the true character of this beautiful door.
